Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu on August 30 had a meeting with the new head of the Mission of the Unites States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Moldova, Jeff Bryan, the parliament’s communication and public relations department reported.
The speaker wished the head of the USAID Mission success in his office and thanked for the constant support provided to Moldova by the American nation, through USAID.
“We appreciate the support of our partners on Moldova’s European way of development. We rely, in continuation, on the generous assistance provided by USAID, which helps us develop and modernize the villages and towns from all over Moldova,” the parliament speaker said.
During the meeting, in which U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent Logsdon participated, the officials discussed the parliamentary agenda for the autumn session, in which the energy security subject continued to be a priority one.
“We need as many as possible projects on green energy, as well as the attraction of investments in the field. The parliament and government will work close together, in order to improve the legal framework and the experience and support of our friends is important for us,” Speaker Igor Grosu noted.
The officials also discussed the major goals for this year.
“We are set to fulfill all conditions for the negotiations on accession to the European Union and an important role in this approach belongs to the parliament. This year, we are set to organize also the local elections at the highest standards of the electoral democracy,” Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu also aid during the discussions.
