“On February 12, the expected volumes of electricity generation in Ukraine corresponded to the volumes of consumption,” said Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.
In this regard, stabilization blackouts were applied only in a few regions, which faced problems with electricity supply to all consumers due to significant damage to distribution networks.
The minister reminded that on February 11, after the repairs had been completed, additional nuclear generation capacities had been connected to the grid.
“Thus, all 9 nuclear power units located in the territory controlled by Ukraine are operating within the power system. After the super-fast repair program at several units, they were connected to the grid the day after the massive shelling, which significantly reduced the electricity shortage. This is the best response of Ukrainian power engineers to the enemy shelling,” said German Galushchenko.
According to the minister, due to the projected increase in consumption and a drop in air temperature, a certain electricity shortage was expected on February 13. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
