The Public Services Agency (ASP) will individualize electric vehicles with special registration plates, which have a white background and green symbols (letters and numbers).
According to the institution, by introducing special registration plates for electric vehicles, the Republic of Moldova will join other countries, where the measure has already been applied for several years, such as Norway, China, Great Britain, Canada, etc.
In 2021, 1132 electric vehicles and 26265 hybrid vehicles were registered in the State Transport Register of the Public Services Agency. In 2022, the fleet of electric vehicles, registered at the ASP, will already consist of 1,973 electric vehicles and 31,643 hybrid vehicles, according to the cited source.
Also, the Government of the Republic of Moldova initiated legislative changes regarding energy efficiency. One of the stated objectives is to popularize e-mobility and encourage other traffic participants to opt for such means of transport, which have a low emission.
The global electric vehicle market has seen exponential growth over the past decade. According to the data of the International Energy Agency, in 2011, around 55 thousand electric vehicles were sold worldwide. Ten years later, in 2021, the figure has increased to around 7 million vehicles. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
