In 2023, the Government has allocated UAH 1.8 billion for the microgrant program “Own Business”, which will allow Ukrainians to receive more than 7,000 microgrants for starting and developing a business. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna during the National Telethon.
“This year’s budget for the “Own Business” program is UAH 1.8 billion, and the Government plans to provide Ukrainians with more than 7,000 microgrants to launch or expand their businesses. We expect that the recipients of these funds will create new jobs, as a prerequisite for a microgrant is that the entrepreneur creates one or two jobs, depending on the amount of the grant. This will have a positive impact on the labor market. We have good results of this program over the past year: 3,300 entrepreneurs received microgrants, thus creating more than 8,000 workplaces,” said Tetiana Berezhna.
She reminded that the microgrant program was the most popular among the grant programs of the eRobota project, and the first wave of microgrant applications this year started on February 1. In a week, Ukrainians have already submitted more than 200 applications for funding through the Diia portal. The amount of the microgrant ranges from UAH 50,000 to 250,000. It can be spent on the purchase or leasing of equipment, purchase of raw materials and supplies, and rental of premises. Both active entrepreneurs and people with no experience in such activities can receive a microgrant.
According to the Deputy Minister of Economy, among the entrepreneurs who have already received microgrants under the Government’s eRobota program last year, almost 30% work in wholesale and retail trade, vehicle repair, 20% in the processing industry and 13% in temporary accommodation and catering. The largest number of grantees was in Kyiv, Lviv and Rivne. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
