Tbilisi International Airport in the Georgian capital will enjoy updated infrastructure including a new terminal, upgraded runway and additional aircraft stations in a project involving “several hundred million dollars”, managing company TAV Georgia announced on February 1.
TAV said the work on the upgrades would be launched in the “near future”, with the reveal coming after the French airport operator Groupe ADP acquired ownership in the company last month.
“For the development of the airport it is very important that all visions, all opinions and all requirements that the state has in relation to domestic airports be reconciled and fulfilled. The airport should be more developed”, TAV Georgia General Manager Tea Zakradze said.
The company also said work on the master plan for the facility was “practically completed” with final technical details being “clarified”. It added the corresponding work on the Batumi Airport in the country’s west would be completed this month.
The work on the Tbilisi Airport plan has involved ADP Ingenierie, the consulting firm of the French group, since October 2022. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
