The Lithuanian Armed Forces are buying Mercedes-Benz military off-road vehicles for almost 32 million euros, the Defence Ministry reports.
It did not say how many vehicles would be purchased.
Veho Lietuva, a Mercedes Benz dealership, is to deliver the vehicles under a contract signed by the Defence Materiel Agency this week.
“The Mercedes-Benz GD 290s purchased six years ago from the Netherlands were successfully used by the Lithuanian Armed Forces. However, there is a need to have more off-road vehicles and renew the ageing fleet,” Deputy Defence Minister Vilius Semeska said in a press release.
The Mercedes-Benz G 350 d vehicles are to be delivered to Lithuania in 2023 to 2024, with the first batch expected to arrive next summer, according to the ministry. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
