Average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia increased by GEL 213.3 (about $75) in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year, marking a 16.1% increase, to GEL 1.541 (about $544), the national statistics office of Georgia said on September 15.
The highest monthly earnings were observed in the following sectors: information and communication – GEL 3,108.8 (+43.1%), financial and insurance activities – GEL 2,671.0 (+13.4%), construction – GEL 2,177.6 (+8.5%), mining and quarrying – GEL 1,026.4 (+16.6%).
Average earnings for women reached GEL 1,240.6 (about $438), while men earned GEL 1,828.4 (about $645). The statistics body said average monthly earnings of men were higher than those of women in most sectors of the economy.
In the second quarter, average monthly earnings of hired employees in the business sector increased by GEL 236.2 (about $83), or by 17%, and equaled GEL 1,625.8 (about $574).
Average monthly earnings of hired employees in the non-business and financial sectors increased by GEL 170.2 (about $60), or by 13.9%, and reached GEL 1,396.8 (about $493), the body also said. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
