A pocket guide – Green fertilizers in the drought conditions of the Republic of Moldova – was published with the support of the Farmer-to-Farmer Program, the Moldova Organic Value Chain Alliance (MOVCA) reported.
The publication includes ideas for combining crops used to fertilize the soil, examples of green manures in rotation, useful tips related to the estimation of nitrogen content, etc.
MOVCA is the first organization in the country to obtain the status of a member of the International Federation of Movements for Ecological Agriculture (IFOAM), a community of about eight hundred affiliates from over a hundred countries. Thus, the Republic of Moldova is represented for the first time in an international structure in the sector.
The Farmer-to-Farmer program is implemented in the country in 2018-2022 by CNFA (Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture) Moldova, with the financial support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The objective of the program is to increase the incomes obtained by producers, processors, exporters and other actors from the value chain of organic agriculture and that of milk production and animal husbandry by improving association, access to resources, training of farmers and university education.
