The Customs Service has announced that there is an increased traffic of cargo trucks in the customs posts located on the Moldovan-Romanian border, on the way out of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the institution, the number of lorries cleared in a 24-hour period is constantly increasing, respectively, in the last days there has been an increased flow of lorries intending to cross the border.
“At the same time, the ability of the Customs Service to clear a larger number of trucks is strictly dependent on the possibility of their movement after granting customs clearance, or, customs officials from the Republic of Moldova can clear and allow the passage of as many trucks as they can physically pass to control on the Romanian side, without blocking the access bridge”, says the statement issued by the institution.
The Customs Service reiterates that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, economic agents from the Republic of Moldova, which previously exported goods to Ukraine, have reoriented towards the EU market, and at the same time, exporters from Ukraine (especially of cereals) also transit the Republic of Moldova with goods, for this reason the customs posts located on the Moldovan-Romanian border have become over-demanded.
The institution specifies that recently the number of customs officials in the Republic of Moldova has been supplemented and at the same time, a constant dialogue is maintained with colleagues from Romania in order to synchronize actions and minimize control times. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
