The exports of medicines from Ukraine have been resumed at the level of 80-90%. To facilitate this process, Moldova accepted packing with inscriptions in the Ukrainian language, for the period of the emergency state, the director of the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (AMDM), Dragos Gutu, informed.
According to the AMDM leadership, Ukraine has always been an important provider of medicines for the Moldovan market, as it has over 100 pharmaceutical producers.
“The first two weeks after the beginning of the war were more critical; a resumption of exports is recorded now. At the same time, in the context of the war, another problem has become the import of medicines from China and India, which was made from the Odesa port. Presently, the deliveries were redirected to the Constanta port from Romania, Thessaloniki from Greece and Istanbul of Turkey,” Dragos Gutu said.
The AMDM director noted that, for logistic reasons, the delivery of medicines from Belarus and Russia had become more difficult; yet, they were not in quantities comparable with the ones from Ukraine.
“The additional logistic costs, caused by the war in Ukraine, have no direct influence on the price of medicines for two reasons: first of all, given that the price of the medicine is established for one year and cannot be changed and the second reason is that the pharmaceutical industry is profitable and these additional logistic costs can be presently borne by producers,” Gutu also said.
According to the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, at present, more than 4,000 pharmaceutical products are registered in the state classified list of Moldova and 60% of the essential medicines remained at the level of the prices from 2021. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
