The budget for NATO’s summit in Vilnius in 2023 is tentatively estimated at 30 million euros, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has said.
“The preliminary estimate is that the budget for the NATO summit could reach 30 million euros,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the summit will be organised at the expense of the host country, with the bulk of the funds to be administered by the Foreign Ministry and about one-third by the Dignitary Protection Service, as well as interior and defence ministries.
The Lithuanian capital’s Litexpo exhibition centre will be the venue of the summit.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Lithuania is capable of organising the event and hosting the guests, but the unstable geopolitical and economic situation poses challenges.
“The biggest challenges may come from the unstable geopolitical situation, broken logistics chains (possible impact on the delivery time of the required goods) and economic development that may affect the final budget of the event,” it said.
