Traveling by public transport in the capital could become more expensive from two to six lei. Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban made the statement at a press conference. He said he would propose new tariffs for approval to the city council.
“I assume that it is not a popular decision, but it is necessary for the development of transport in Chisinau and the avoidance of the bankruptcy of the Urban Bus Park, but also of the Electric Transport Authority,” he said.
According to the project due to be proposed for examination, the cost of a trip would be six lei, and subscriptions will be put up for sale, which will be cheaper.
The mayor claims that the real price of a trolleybus trip is 7.40 lei, and for the bus 17 lei. He said that the pensioners and other 18 categories of people would travel for free and the little ones would travel for free up to seven years. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
