In February, the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 88.3 thousand, up 2-fold YoY, but down by 43.4% from before the beginning of pandemic in February 2020.
As compared to February last year, the number of nights spent by visitors comprised 163.3 thousand, up by 91.1%.
In the two months of the year, the number of foreign and resident visitors in Latvian tourist accommodation establishments comprised 167.6 thousand, up 2-fold YoY, but, compared to January and February 2020 before the pandemic, comprised only 52%, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
In February, tourist accommodation establishments hosted 51.9 thousand Latvian residents, up by 39.3% YoY. The number of nights spent by them comprised 90.3 thousand, up by 32.3%.
Latvian visitors stayed mostly in Riga (31.5%), Jurmala (17.3%), Liepaja (5.9%), Sigulda municipality (5.7%), Cesis municipality (3.7%) and Daugavpils (3.6%).
In February, the number of foreign visitors out of all visitors in accommodation establishments comprised 41.3% or 36.4 thousand, up 4.6-fold YoY, but down by 63.4% from February 2020 before the beginning of pandemic. The number of nights spent by foreign visitors, compared to February last year, has grown 4.2-fold and comprised 73 thousand.
The majority of foreign visitors came from Lithuania (5.6 thousand), Estonia (4.6 thousand), United Kingdom (3.5 thousand), Germany (3.2 thousand), Ukraine (2.1 thousand), Poland (2 thousand) and Russia (1.8 thousand).
Most foreign visitors stayed in Riga (84.4%), Jurmala (4.6%) and Liepaja (2.4%). (BNN/Business World Magazine)
