Georgia has never considered and will not consider construction of a road connecting Georgia with Russia’s Chechnya republic, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure said in response to media reports on March 17.
The ministry made the comment following reports on a Russian Security Council discussion of a road project connecting Georgia to the federal subject of Russia.
The issue of road construction “has never been on the agenda” of the Georgian side, the ministry said in its statement, calling information about such an initiative “false”.
In its response, the ministry also asked Georgian media outlets to provide information “verified” by the Georgian side, in order to “avoid misleading the population”. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
