The official said that in the period from December 2021 to March 2022, Centrenergo pledged to generate 3.4 billion kWh worth of electricity, for which the company needed to burn 1.671 million tons of coal.
According to Voloshyna, of the total demand, 800,000 tons is expected to be provided by state-owned mines (200,000 tons per month). The rest shall be covered by imports.
In particular, 35,000 tons will be delivered from Kazakhstan, 130,000 tons – from Poland (starting from December) and another 420,000 tons will be delivered by sea.
Voloshyna noted that Centrenergo was currently negotiating the supply of another 510,000 tons of coal by sea. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
