In January-September, the trade turnover of agricultural goods between Ukraine and the European Union grew by 20% YoY, to $8.4 billion, declared the senior research associate of agricultural production economy and international integration department of the National scientific center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”, Bogdan Dukhnitskiy.
In the reporting period, the Ukraine’s surplus increased to $2.4 billion, as the growth of Ukrainian export (+$0.8 billion) exceeded the growth of import from the EU (+$0.5 billion).
The Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain and France remained the largest trading partners for Ukraine. Their combined share was about 71% of the overall agricultural trade turnover.
As of mid-October, Ukrainian exporters have already taken up the duty free export quotas for supply of honey, apple and grape juices, barley groat and flour, canned tomatoes, processed starch as well as quarter quotas for supply of eggs and poultry meat.
“Higher prices on the global market of grains and oilseeds as well as the expectations of large crop have been stimulating increase of agricultural export to the EU this year”, the expert said. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
