Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said the government would “actively negotiate” with pharmaceutical industry representatives in order to regulate medication prices.
During a meeting with Georgian National Competition Agency head Irakli Lekvinadze, Garibashvili discussed an interim report on pharmaceutical market monitoring, asserting that the public was “very concerned” about drug prices, and that regulatory measures needed to become more “transparent”.
“Let’s start negotiations with industry representatives, the main players. I am also going to start working on regulating this issue in the economic council,” Garibashvili said.
Lekvinadze noted that the interim monitoring report offered recommendations, including legislative changes, on how to regulate the pharmaceutical market. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
