Municipal company Rigas namu parvaldnieks (RNP) may be forced to lay off more than 200 workers who are not vaccinated for Covid-19, as reported by the company’s representative Una Grenevica.
RNP reports 90% of its employees are vaccinated for Covid-19.
The company is currently actively engaged in efforts to employ only vaccinated people. Potential changes to the way services are provided and automation options are considered as well. The purpose is reducing the shortage of workers on customer services.
Although people who refuse to vaccinate can be found in nearly all posts, the biggest effect will be on cleaning services, because janitors make up the majority of the laid off workers.
Additional negative influence on availability of services comes from ongoing illness of workers and quarantining of employees who have been in contact with Covid-19 patients.
“Our company’s priority is the health and safety of our customers and workers. As a socially responsible company, we fully support the fight against the pandemic and we have reached out to our customers and employees about vaccination options at work and close to home. Unfortunately, it is clear that some employees don’t want to vaccinate. This is why it is not possible to reach 100% vaccination coverage,” explains the head of the company Ronalds Neimanis.
To ensure services remain accessible, the company has adopted very tight epidemiological safety measures and has performed reorganization measures. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
