In January-July, compared to the same period in 2020, Ukraine’s imports of goods increased by 28.6%, to $37.24 billion, and exports – by 33.4%, to $35.51 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.
Exports of goods from Ukraine amounted to $35.51 billion, up by 33.4%. Imports of goods to Ukraine over the reporting period amounted to $37.24 billion, up by 28.6%. Accordingly, Ukraine’s foreign trade balance was negative and came to $1.73 billion (in January-July 2020, foreign trade balance was also negative and amounted to $2.34 billion). In January-July, foreign trade operations were conducted with foreign partners from 228 countries.
The largest export deliveries of goods over the reporting period were made to China (for $4.99 billion, up by 36.5%), Poland ($2.89 billion, up by 67.6%) and Turkey ($2.08 billion, up by 58.5%).
The largest volumes of goods exported to other countries in money terms over the reporting period were ferrous metals ($7.54 billion, up by 66.9%), grain crops ($5.16 billion, up by 4.4%), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin ($3.77 billion, up by 10.4%).
As to the imports, in January-July Ukraine imported the largest volumes of goods from China (for $5.53 billion, up by 27.3%), Germany ($3.34 billion, up by 13.3%) and the Russian Federation ($2.90 billion, up by 12.3%).
In terms of commodity items, the largest volumes of goods imported to Ukraine in January-July were machinery and equipment ($7.54 billion, up by 26.3%), mineral fuels, oil and products of their distillation ($6.18 billion, up by 34.2%) and products of chemical and related industries ($5 billion, up by 22.2%).
