In central Latvia, the Kekava Municipality has banned organizing gambling in its territory set up in 2021, as part of the administrative and territorial reform.
From now on, the 27 thousand people living in the 454-square-kilometer territory will not have on-site gambling services available to them. The Kekava Municipality passed the decision to ban organizing gambling on September 8, writing it down in its normative enactments.
The ban will not concern cases, where the license to organize gambling according to other normative enactments will have been granted by the time the new rules enter into force.
Alongside Kekava, which is located near Riga, there are other municipalities in Latvia, which also consider banning the organizing of gambling in their territories as permitted by law. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
