As of September 1, the organization of road traffic on Marijas and A.Caka Street has been changed: only one bicycle lane remains, as reported by Riga City Council’s Transport Department.
The lane is currently undergoing re-marking.
A public transport and road transport lane is established in the direction from the city center. Organization of road traffic remains the same in the direction of the city center – shared lane for road transport and public transport and a separate one for cyclists.
The Transport Department reminds that when traversing roads that do not have appropriate infrastructure for bicycles, it is important for cyclists to follow established regulations and drive in a straight line – as close to the right side of the road as possible.
When driving on the walkway cyclists should maintain a speed that does not put pedestrians in danger.
This week, while the aforementioned streets are undergoing re-marking, the city council’s transport department urges all traffic participants to be careful and respectful of one another. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
