In January-July, the exports of Ukrainian agro-industrial products to the EU increased by 10% YoY, to $3.7 billion, the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) reported.
As of August 1, Ukraine fully used the quotas for duty-free exports of agri-food products to the EU in seven groups of goods: honey, cereals and flour, processed starch, processed tomatoes, grape and apple juice, poultry (volume for 3 quarters) and eggs (volume for 3 quarters).
Compared to the same period last year, the quota in two groups of goods was not used: sugar and corn. The sugar quota was not used due to the shortage in the Ukrainian market, while the corn quota – due to significant demand from China and the redirection of volumes through this sales channel.
Until the end of the year, quotas on processed cereals (currently 99% used), starch (78%) and corn (74%) could be closed.
According to the Monitoring EU Agri-Food Trade report, Ukraine became the fourth largest supplier of agricultural products to the European Union in 2020, trailing only the United Kingdom, Brazil and the United States. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
