The volume of transactions processed by Latvian payment and electronic money institutions, including e-money, has reached EUR 159.7 million, up by 3% YoY, according to data compiled by the Finance and Capital Market Commission (FKTK).
The volume of transactions performed by payment institutions remained on the same level of the first half year of 2020, whereas the volume of electronic money institutions’ transactions had increased 17%.
When compared to June 30, 2020, the average volume of e-money in circulation increased by 3%, to EUR 4.1 million.
The volume of repurchased e-money volume has declined by 6%, to EUR 7.5 million, which indicates increasing popularity of this type of money, notes FKTK.
Gross revenue from payments performed by the institutions have reached EUR 5 million in the first half-year, down by 11% YoY.
As of June 30, there were seven payment institutions registered in Latvia. Two of them are registered and five are licensed. There are also eight electronic money institutions with six registered and two licensed. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
