In June, the unemployment level in Latvia was 8%, higher than the average in the European Union, according to data published by Eurostat.
Unemployment among EU member states was higher in Greece and Spain (15.1% in both), Italy (9.7%), Sweden (9.2%) and Finland (8.1%). Unemployment in Lithuania was 6.4% in June and 6.7% in Estonia.
Unemployment was much lower in the Czech Republic (2.8%), the Netherlands (3.2%), Poland and Malta (3.6% in both) and Germany (3.7%).
The average unemployment level in the EU, according to seasonally adjusted data, was 7.1% in June. In Eurozone unemployment was an average of 7.7% across all member states.
Data from Eurostat showed that in June there were 14.916 million unemployed people. 12.517 million of them were in Eurozone member states. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
