Compared to June 2020, total retail trade turnover rose by 5.9% in June. Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 2%.
Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) increased by 11.4% and of automotive fuel – by 9.6%.
Compared to June 2020, the most notable turnover rise was recorded in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (+18.2%), retail sale in stalls or markets (+16.5%) and retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialized stores (+15.4%).
A notable turnover drop was registered in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (-9.7%), according to calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB).
Total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 9.8% (not taking into account the calendar influence).
Compared to May, in June the total turnover of retail trade enterprises rose by 4.2%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 0.2%. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) increased by 7.4% and of automotive fuel – by 4.7%.
Compared to the previous month, the most significant turnover growth was registered in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (+76.1%), which was substantially affected by the reduction of limitations in shopping centers. An increase was also recorded in retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (+6.3%) and retail trade in pharmaceutical and medical goods (+2.9%). The largest turnover drop was registered in retail sale of electrical household appliances in specialized stores (-8.8%), in retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (-8.4%) and retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialized stores (-5.2%).
Compared to May, the total retail trade turnover at current prices, without taking into account seasonality increased by 5.2% in June. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
