Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Corporation has announced its plans to invest in Georgia’s energy sector.
During an official meeting with the Economy Minister Natia Turnava, the Toyota Tsusho delegation expressed its special interest in the production of the so-called green hydrogen.
“Toyota Group has been present on the Georgian market for years. However, it is possible that this company will also become an investor in the energy sector, including the production of green hydrogen. Georgia is developing in this innovative direction and we, Georgia and Japan, think we will be able to implement a pilot program in Georgia”, Turnava said after the meeting.
The Ambassador of Japan to Georgia Imamura Akira said Toyota Tsusho, one of the largest trading companies in Japan, was interested in investing in Georgia, as a country, which had the potential to be a partner in the field of renewable energy.
Imamura Akira has also noted the importance of the recently signed agreement on investment liberalization, promotion and protection between the two countries, that aimed to encourage investment flows from Japan to Georgia.
Toyota Tsusho Corporation operates in 120 countries and has more than 66,000 employees. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
