Within the framework of the International Arms Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2021), Ukraine’s Ukrspecexport and Pakistan have signed a contract for the repairs of T-80UD MBTs for a total of $85.6 million.
“Although the closure of borders last year due to the global pandemic has taught us to work effectively online, Ukraine’s participation in one of the largest arms exhibitions, which is taking place offline, is difficult to overestimate,” said Ukrspecexport CEO Vadym Nozdria, when commenting on the progress of IDEX 2021.
According to him, within the framework of the exhibition, the contract was signed between Ukrspecexport and Pakistan for the repair of T-80UD MBTs for a total of $85.6 million.
“This is the first contract of Ukrspecexport, one of the most systematic and effective special exporters of Ukroboronprom, with Pakistan this year,” Nozdria said.
The parties also discussed the issue of expanding cooperation and implementing new projects until the end of 2021.
In addition, the Ukrainian delegation held talks with the delegations of the UAE, Jordan and Saudi Arabia and reached agreements on cooperation in the fields of high-precision weapons, armored vehicles, unmanned platforms, engines’ repair, etc, according to Director General of Ukraine’s State Concern Ukroboronprom Yuriy Husyev.
“We have every reason to predict that we will not only maintain our position in our major markets in 2021, but also enter new ones – with new products. The Ukrainian defense-industrial complex gives us such an opportunity. Therefore, we are planning new foreign economic contracts and expect a significant increase in supplies to foreign markets, which is an increase in contributions to the state budget,” Nozdria commented on the first results of Ukraine’s participation in IDEX-2021.
