In January, the Freeport of Riga handled 1.7 million tons of cargo, down by 20.3% YoY.
According to the port’s statistics, handing of grain increased by 42.3%, to 275,000 tons, coal handling fell by 99%, to 4,000 tons, chemicals – by 16.1%, to 102,200 tons, ore – 99,600 tons (no handling in January 2020), wood pellets – by 12.1%, to 169,000 tons, wood chips – by 51.6%, to 74,700 tons, and oil products – by 21.1%, to 257,100 tons, while sawn timber grew 2.1-fold, to 31,100 tons, and timber – by 15.2%, to 190,400 tons.
The port’s container throughput fell by 13.2%, to 32,700 TEUs.
