Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii has said the international air travel may fully resume from 2023.
This year Ukraine might reach half of the 2019 passenger traffic volume.
Kryklii noted in 2020 Ukraine saw less than a third (28%) of the passenger traffic it had in 2019. At the same time, the minister adds, expectations and forecasts are constantly changing.
“We expect that this year, if everything goes according to the predicted plan, if the vaccination program is successful and countries open up, if there are no new variants of the coronavirus or new worldwide waves of the epidemic, we will reach half of the volume of air travel from 2019,” he said.
The year 2019 was the most successful one for air transportation industry, Kryklii reiterated.
“According to such forecasts, until about three quarters in 2022 and fully in 2023, we will restore the pre-pandemic volumes,” the minister said. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
