The air traffic in Ukraine fell by 37.5% in March compared to the relevant period last year, according to the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE).
“The total fall in air traffic over the month totals 37.5% compared to March 2019. However, this percentage takes into account the slight decrease in the air traffic volume in the first half of the month and the rapid dynamics of its decline in the second half,” UkSATSE wrote on its Facebook page.
According to Eurocontrol, air traffic in Ukraine fell by 7% from March 9 to March 15, and by 68.2% on March 16, compared to the relevant period of 2019. The number of flights in the Ukrainian airspace decreased by 86.2% in the third week of March, and by 96.2% in the last week.
In March, UkSATSE provided air navigation services to 13,323 flights, of which 1,443 were domestic flights (-44.9% compared to March 2019), 6,653 were international flights (-41.1%) and 5,227 were transit flights (-29.5%).
UkSATSE notes that the global dynamics of air traffic, in particular in the European region, continues to decline following the air travel ban imposed in many countries due the COVID-19 outbreak. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
