Ukraine has cut electricity consumption by over 5% since the introduction of quarantine over COVID-19.
“Since the introduction of quarantine measures, electricity consumption in the energy system of Ukraine has decreased by more than 5% at almost the same air temperature,” the press service of state-run Ukrenergo, which operates the country’s integrated power grids, has said in a statement.
Electricity is not to be imported into Ukraine on March 21-29 due to the decrease in power consumption, it said.
“According to Ukrenergo’s estimates, electricity will not be imported from Belarus, Russia and Moldova on March 21-29, that is, the imports will be 0 MW during the specified period,” it added. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
