Winemakers and representatives of Georgian and French viticulture have gathered in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi to discuss how to introduce modern technologies in winemaking.
As part of the VINITECH innovative tour, wine professionals from Bordeaux, hub of the famed wine-growing region of France, are visiting Georgia and attending a conference to discuss new methods of irrigation and the best times to harvest.
Georgian Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili also attended the conference and talked about Georgian winemaking traditions and history.
“As you know, Georgia is the cradle of wine, the oldest center of winemaking. Therefore, Georgia is very interesting for many researchers and scientists. For specialists from Bordeaux it is interesting to bring innovation to the country of the biggest traditions”, Davitashvili said.
Davitashvili added that cooperation with wine professionals from Bordeaux was a priority for Georgia as Bordeaux “is the center of modern winemaking, and is the leader in terms of innovations and technologies”. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
