Vienna, Rome, and Prague were the top three in demand directions from Georgia’s Kutaisi International Airport in February, announces United Airports of Georgia.
After these three cities come Athens and Memmingen.
In total Kutaisi Airport serviced 617,342 passengers in 2018, up by 52.5% YoY.
United Airports of Georgia reported that 95% of Kutaisi airport passengers (587,643 passengers) were taken by WizzAir.
Kutaisi is leading in European airports in terms of growing passenger traffic.
Starting from August 1 Wizz Air will base a third aircraft AIRBUS A320 in Kutaisi airport.
Currently, a new terminal is being built at Kutaisi airport, which will be opened this year to cater to the rapidly growing number of passengers.
Also from August 1, Kutaisi International Airport will introduce six new European destinations, announced Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.
Wizz Air has been carrying out flights on the Georgian aviation market since it opened its first Caucasian base in September 2016.
As for Kutaisi Airport, a new terminal is being built that is expected to triple the capacity of the airport. Construction of a new terminal is due to be completed by the end of 2019. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
