The number of registered unemployed people in Ukraine in the last month of 2018 increased by 40,700 MoM and amounted to 341,700, the State Statistics Service has reported, with reference to the State Employment Service.
The registered unemployment rate thus increased to 1.3% from 1.2% in November 2018.
According to the service, the greatest increase in the number of unemployed persons was recorded in rural areas – by 32,700, to 158,500. In towns and cities, the number of those unemployed grew by 8,000, to 183,200 people.
The average unemployment benefit in December 2018 rose by UAH 206, to UAH 2,876 (from UAH 2,670 in November 2018).
The number of job openings in December decreased to 58,400, from 81,200 in November.
The data does not take into account the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and part of temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
