In January-October the Freeport of Riga handled 29,917,600 tons of cargo, up by 6.5% YoY.
Transshipment of coal grew by 14.6%, to 11,508,800, wood pellets – by 38.2%, to 740,600 tons, and ore – by 10.7%, to 464,200 tons, while oil products dropped by 28.1%, to 3.445 million tons.
The port’s container throughput grew by 6%, to 385,982 TEUs.
In the reporting period passenger turnover increased by 5.6%, to 761,45 people, including 74,785 cruise passengers (-13%).
Freeport of Riga lies on both banks of the River Daugava covering 6.3 hectares. The port’s berth length is 13,800 meters, and maximum draft at the berths is 12.2 meters. Up to 80% of the Freeport of Riga cargo turnover is made up of transit cargoes forwarded to or received from the CIS countries. In 2017 the port handled 33,674,700 tons of cargo.
