The Belarusian automobile engineering company has delivered 128 urban buses to the Russian city of Kazan. Another 10 will be handed over to customers in the next few days. Once it is done, the entire batch of buses will be delivered to Tatarstan, Russia ahead of the football cup, according to the MAZ website.
The city of Kazan opted for the MAZ 203069 model. The world cup will begin in Russia in mid-July. The buses will be used to transport football fans during the cup and to transport regular passengers in the city after the cup ends. Tatarstan has bought over 600 Belarusian buses over the course of ten years. In particular, MAZ sold over 230 vehicles to Kazan ahead of the 2013 Summer Universiade.
“Belarusian buses are popular in Russia thanks to their reliability, low maintenance, and European comfort standards. We hope they will help Russian cities during the world football cup,” the MAZ website reads.
The MAZ 203069 urban bus uses a Mercedes Benz engine and an automatic transmission. It has 28 seats and can carry a total of 105 passengers. The bus is also fitted with folding ramps and a modern ventilation system in addition to four cameras that feed video signal to the driver’s display. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
