Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has ordered to start the large-scale production of Ukraine’s brand new Vilkha (Alder) missile system in 2018.
“The Ukrainian army will get high-precision weapons. I attended the final testing of our Vilkha missile complex,” he wrote on Facebook on April 25.
“Why is it so important? Not only because the Ukrainian army will finally have high-precision equipment that will substantially increase the efficiency of the Armed Forces units, but also because the Vilkha missile is wholly made of Ukrainian components,” the president said.
“I can give one specific figure: this missile is 10 times more precise and, accordingly, 10 times more efficient than the old multiple-launch rocket systems that have been in service since the Soviet Union times,” he added.
Poroshenko noted that the production of new high-precision weapons had been organized in such a short term for the first time.
“Only two years ago, the National Security and Defense Council decided to launch a missile program, and today, we have finished the testing. The missile will be added to the armory,” the president said. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
