Ukrainian state-run railways operator JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has said the cost of tickets may grow by 12% from April. The same increase will take place in October, acting CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Kravtsov declared.
The received funds are planned to be spent on the development of passenger infrastructure.
“We applied to the Ministry of Infrastructure as a regulator of passenger tariffs on the railway about the need to raise prices in two stages this year – in April by 12%, and in autumn, most likely in October – by another 12%,” Kravtsov said.
The order of the Ministry of Infrastructure on raising tariffs for railway passenger transportations is still under consideration, Ukrzaliznytsia said. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
