In January seaports of Ukraine handled 10.8 million tons of cargo, up by 10.9% YoY, says the press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Transshipment of export cargo fell by 1.1%, to 7.8 million tons, including 1.5 million tons of metal (+21.2%), 26,300 TEUs of containerized cargo (+17%) and 3.1 million tons of grain (+1.1%).
Imports surged by 70%, to 2.1 million tons, including 0.7 million tons of coal (+112.3%), 0.7 million tons of ore (+42%), 0.08 million tons of oil (no oil transshipment in January 2016), 0.05 million tons of oil products (+16%), and 26,900 TEUs of containerized cargo (+5%). Transshipment of construction materials fell by 35.4%, to 0.08 million tons.
In January seaports of Ukraine handled 913 vessels, up by 46.8% (291 vessels) as compared with the same period of 2017. (PortNews/Business World Magazine)
