Uzbekistan’s Agrobank will create an association of lemon producers in the Qashqadaryo region, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources said in a message.
Such a decision was voiced during the working visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the region.
In the region Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with an innovative project by Akbar Saidov, graduate of the master’s program of Tashkent State Agrarian University.
Implementation of the project made it possible to grow 50,000 one-year-old seedlings of lemon in 6 months at an area of 4 hectares in the Shahrisabz region. The seedlings were grown in accordance with intensive technology, which allows them to grow twice as fast as usual.
“Growing lemons is one of the profitable sectors,” Mirziyoyev said. “Its development will make it possible to increase the competitiveness of our economy, create sources of additional income. In this regard, it is necessary to support this promising direction and to create an association of lemon producers on the basis of the Qashqadaryo region.”
Presentation of projects on the manufacture of food products, organization of red pepper and ferula, pistachio and nut plantations, animal, turkey breeding, beekeeping and milk processing was also held in the region. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
