Two Belarusian companies, namely OAO Mogilev Meat Packing Plant and OOO Veles-Meat, are launching frozen beef export to China, Aleksei Bogdanov, head of the Foreign Trade Department at the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, announced.
“The first two Belarusian meat producers have started exporting beef to the Chinese market,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.
“We are not going to stop at this. We are planning to extend both the list of exporters and the lineup of products, including ready-made ones,” he added.
Aleksei Bogdanov recalled that Belarus regularly hosted Chinese business delegations to work out delivery logistics, discuss meat-cutting specifics and analyze the taste preferences of consumers. Eight Belarusian meat-packing plants have been certified to export beef to China. Work on the certification of other companies continues.
Belarus is set to export $20 million worth of beef to China in 2017, as envisaged in a protocol of intent between Chinese companies and Belarusian producers. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
