Continuing established cooperation, State Revenue Service and Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Latvia will form a joint work group to propose legislative initiatives, SRS representatives say.
On August 11, SRS met with leading officials of LVRA. According to SRS, the meeting helped address several important cooperation matters. An agreement was also reached in regards to the formation of a joint work group to propose legislative initiatives.
The association admits that the majority of businessmen that participated in the meeting were positive about this plan, admitting that support with SRS has been constructive and correct so far. At the same time, the meeting helped address certain aspects that require improvements and change of approach from SRS.
As noted by SRS Director General Ilze Cirule, SRS is aware that it is not possible to perform changes in certain processes within just a couple of days.
“What we want from businessmen is for them to see us as partners, talk to us, ask questions, offer proposals and explain specifics of their occupied industries,” Cirule explains.
SRS also mentioned results of inspections performed by the service. Results show that risk assessment previously performed by SRS turned out justified. SRS intend to continue performing inspections in the future as a preventive measure, because not all companies are prepared to cooperate.
SRS and LVRA representatives agreed that such meetings should be organized on a regular basis to discuss topical matters. Both sides also agreed that it would be beneficial to create a joint work group to help maintain contact and come up with legislative proposals more efficiently. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
