In 2017, the production volumes of grains and pulses in Ukraine will decrease to 59.04 million tons (by 10.7% YoY), the Director of the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”, Academician of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS) Yuri Lupenko said.
According to the expert, reduction of the average yield of grains and pulses by 11.6% YoY became the major reason for the reporting decline in production.
In particular, in 2017 wheat harvest will decrease by 17.9% YoY, barley – by 23.3%, buckwheat – by 9.3%, millet – by 51%, oats – by 23%, and sorghum – by 17.6%. But the production volumes of corn and rice are forecast at the last year level.
At the same time, the production of peas will grow by 10.3% due to the increase of the planted areas by 60.6%, and rye – by 7.7%. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
