It is difficult to build roads in Kyrgyzstan, so aviation is needed, the Minister of Transport and Roads Zhamshitbek Kalilov said.
According to him, the ICAO leadership for the first time pays an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
“We understand that it is extremely important for a mountainous country to pay attention to air traffic. This will influence the development of tourism and economy,” Zhamshitbek Kalilov said.
The head of the presidential staff Sapar Isakov said that the visit of ICAO gave hope that everything would turn out the way Kyrgyzstan dreamed.
“We are stuck in the period of transformation. Over 90% of the country’s territory is mountainous. This complicates the development of rail and road communication. It is necessary to develop aviation to enter international markets,” he said.
Sapar Isakov added that over the past three months, 280,000 passengers and over 7,000 tons of cargo had been transported. The aviation industry is slowly developing, however. Reconstruction of airports is underway. The aviation potential of the republic is growing. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
