As part of the terminal’s expansion project, construction of a new warehouse for Ventspils Grain Terminal has been successfully completed. Now it is possible to commence wall construction work, as reported by the company’s chairman Vladislavs Safranskis.
The expansion project for the improvement of Ventspils Freeport includes not only increasing storage capacity thanks to the new universal warehouse, but also expanding nomenclature of handled cargoes. All this will offer clients the option to transship not only grains, but also other cargo types – oil crop seeds, pellets, pulp, etc. In addition, the new warehouse respects the interests of nearby residents and requirements of environmental protection acts, the company reports.
In autumn, the active export season for new harvests, it is planned to start using new storage capacity and bunker scales to offer clients high precision weighting service.
The company’s representative promises that the project’s realization will allow the terminal to simultaneously store up to 100,000 tons of grains and other product cargoes. The processing ability has been increased to 2 million tons annually. The total volume of investments for this project is approximately EUR 7 million.
Ventspils Grain Terminal reports that the new warehouse is specializing in grain storage. Its storage capacity is 72,000 tons and processing capacity is 1.5 million tons.
It is also worth mentioning that the terminal is able to provide loading operations for PANAMAX-type ships. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
