In 2016 the prime cost of electricity in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 1.62 soms for kilowatt-hour, Taalaybek Nurbashev, director of the State Agency for Regulation of Fuel and Energy Complex, said at a meeting of the parliamentary Committee for Fuel, Energy Complex and Subsoil Use.
According to him, for the past three years, the highest prime cost was in 2015 – 1.98 soms for kilowatt. In 2014 it was 1.43 soms.
As the head of the state agency explained, this was connected with the import of electricity from Kazakhstan and a relatively high cost of repairs.
In 2016 Kyrgyzstan produced 12,605 million kilowatt-hours, including Bishkek Heating and Power Plant – 1,374 billion. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
