In January-February the seaport of Azov handled 738,000 tons (up by 1.2% YoY), the port Harbor Master Vladimir Bragin declared.
In the reporting period, transshipment of oil products grew by 4.9%, to 114,000 tons, coal – by 14.8%, to 102,000 tons. Transshipment of grain declined by 2.8%, to 473,000 tons.
In January-February internal turnover of Azov seaport was flat YoY, at 729,500 tons, exports dropped by 16.4%, to 559,000 tons, imports doubled to 29,000 tons, short-sea traffic increased 3.1 times, to 141,500 tons. Monthly volume of transit cargoes (not handled a year ago) reached 8,600 tons.
The Azov Port Harbor Master Service in January-February registered 199 arrivals and 233 departures.
Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea and the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port’s basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
