The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food expects that the Ukrainian agrarians in 2016 will collect some 64.2 million tons of grain, up by 4 million tons YoY, with the average yield of 44.8 hundredweight per ha, according to the ministry press service.
According to the report, 26.1 million tons of wheat will be harvested, down by 435,000 tons YoY. Corn crops will increase by 2.8 million tons, to 26.1 million tons, barley by 1.2 million tons to 9.5 million tons, rye by 4,000 tons to 395,000 tons. Also, the oats yield will increase by 21,600 tons to 510,100 tons, buckwheat by 55,200 tons to 183,300 tons.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, millet harvest in 2016 will be reduced by 24,200 tons YoY, to 189,100 tons, and rice will be increased by 6,400 tons, to 68,900 tons. As for industrial crops, the agrarians will increase the harvest of sugar beet by 2.8 million tons, to 13.2 million tons, sunflower by 1.7 million tons, to 12.9 million tons, and soybeans by 219,000 tons, to 4.1 million tons.
According to the report, the crop of canola will amount to 1.2 million tons, down by 581,000 tons YoY. It is also reported that the agrarians will increase the collection of potatoes by 50,800 tons, to 20.9 million tons. Collection of vegetables last year will grow by 176 million tons, to 9 million tons. According to the ministry, the harvest of fruit and berries will amount to 2.05 million tons, down by 102,000 tons YoY, and the grape harvest will increase by 13,700 tons, to 400,000 tons.
