Ukrainian sunmeal exports totaled 349.8 KMT in October against 141.5 KMT in September and 348 KMT in October 2015. In 2016/2017 (September-October), this product’s shipments to foreign markets somewhat exceeded last season’s: 491.3 KMT against 487.1 KMT a year ago.
Although exports in the first two months did not reach the high registered in MY 2012/2013 (over 613 KMT), analysts expect Ukraine’s 2016/2017 sunmeal exports to total at least 4400 KMT and thereby set a new export record.
In October the range of sunmeal export destinations did not change considerably either. European countries and Belarus remain the top buyers of this Ukrainian product with their respective export shares at 55% and 17%. India continues stepping up purchases of Ukrainian sunmeal. Turkey resumed sunmeal imports from Ukraine in October (9.3 KMT), but their volume was six times less than at the same time last year. A feature of the current season is that Turkey has cut imports of processed products in favor of sunseed. This was a response to a duty imposed in Turkey on unrefined sunoil deliveries.
