PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia will submit to the relevant ministries and agencies the issue of raising tariffs for passenger transportation by 35% in two stages: by 16% in the first quarter of 2017 and by 16% in the fourth quarter of 2017.
According to the company press service, fares in first and second class wagons of Intercity+ trains will also grow by 10% from January 2017.
“We emphasize that tariffs in long-haul trains remained unchanged since 2014, and the planned raising in the cost of travel is today’s requirement based on the official rate of inflation and the level of industrial product prices. In particular, inflation for 2015 was 143.3%, for the first eight months of 2016 – some 104.5%. The inflation rate for the period from January 1, 2014 to August 31, 2016 amounted to 187.1%”, Ukrzaliznytsia said.
However, in terms of reducing the number of passenger carriages, this year Ukrzaliznytsia has transported 10% more passengers than in the corresponding period last year, whereas the fleet of passenger cars decreased by 15%. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
